St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, MI, celebrated its first Polish Mass. The new pastor, Father Roman Pasieczny, brought to our large Polish community a special mass. It was lovely. A special choir sang the songs of the season in Polish.
Father Roman became visibly emotional several times throughout the ceremony. He spoke of growing up in Poland and reminisced of the Polish traditions he grew up celebrating. It was touching to hear of his life as a young boy in my family's home country.
My parents have been gone a long time so there are no longer Christmas songs sung in Polish that were our tradition so long ago . Hearing Father Roman singing solo several times, and also the choir, brought back memories from those Christmases past.
It was a beautiful mass and hopefully there will be more celebrated in Polish at St. Lawrence.
Father Roman is a beautiful person. I am so grateful that he is our Pastor. He is always appreciative and thankful for the smallest things. He has a great sense of humor. Our church community is blessed.
I love being Catholic, and I love being a member of St. Lawrence.
