We're still enjoying spring, but summertime is just around the corner.
One of my favorite memories of being Little B was family picnics. Family picnics in my family were BIG family gatherings. Grandparents, lots of aunts and uncles, and even more cousins. Back in the 1950's families were close and it was the norm to celebrate all through the year - not just holidays, but seasons. And whether the picnic site was a long drive from home, or in a local park. It didn't matter. What mattered was (1) planning the picnic, (2) picking the site (slides and swings and lots of picnic tables), (3) picnic baskets stuffed with homemade food, (4) coolers full of beverages, (5) blankets for spreading on the ground, (6) games for the kids, probably cards for the big people, and (7) lots of fun. Oh, and the camera - Brownie or Kodak moments - and probably a movie camera.
just one of my memories of growing up in a large Polish family in Detroit ♥
szczęśliwy (happy)
